About
Hello welcome to my blog! I am passionate about topics of personal finance, travel and anything technology related.
My background is in engineering. During my college years I developed an interest in computer aided design (CAD) using a software called SolidWorks. I continue to use this software almost every week in my professional career. The big downside of SolidWorks however is that it’s very expensive to purchase. This was a source of frustration, so I looked for an alternative software. My criteria was for the software to be free and open source, have the ability to do engineering level work and have a sizable community. The CAD software that best filled these requirements was FreeCAD. I found there to be a steep learning curve to using freeCAD, so when I learned something new I posted about it on my Youtube channel. I made these videos as a self guide for my future self, but also as a aid for anyone that is learning FreeCAD as well.
Being from an engineering background I can’t help but optimize almost everything I do. The ultimate for optimization in my mind is personal finance. I first got introduced to the Financial independence retire early (FIRE) movement when I was still a teenager and have been fascinated by the possibility of having enough saved before the age of 40 to be free and never have to work for someone else ever again.
Recently I’ve moved to Nebraska which has given me the opportunity to experience, from the prospective of an outsider, everything the state has to provide. This is also an area that I think is interesting to blog about as well.
This blog is still in the early stages and it’s my goal to find topics that I find interesting that are also interesting to everyone else. I also believe in quality over quality and it is my ambition to provide value to my readers in every blog post that I make.
