As Robert Keyosaki says “an asset puts money in your pocket and a liability takes money from your pocket.” According to this definition this sink attachment is definitely an asset in my books. It is perhaps one of my best investments that I’ve ever made. It has literally saved me hundreds of dollars, and this is no exaggeration. The best thing is that it cost me less than $20.
When I first moved out of the house and got my own apartment to rent, I had a little bit of a rude awakening. My side of the duplex, the side that I was paying rent for, didn’t have a washing machine. The required hose attachments needed to attach a wash machine was on the other side of the duplex. This meant that I had to use a laundromat.

Its no secret that doing laundry is perhaps one of the least enjoyable things of being an adult. It’s even worse when you need to drive a few miles to go to the laundromat. It’s one of those things that the two parts of your mind struggle with. Oh well the mind goes on let’s just do it and try not think about it.
The whole experience sucks. The process goes something like this: Get the clothes together into a basket, see the neighbors watch you putting the basket in the car, drive to the laundromat and spend 5 dollars to wash clothes in quarters, have an awareness of the somewhat shady characters walking around, drive back home to hang the clothes up to dry. After about 40-50 minutes you are finally done. Yuck! No one likes to do this.
Gambling on the Sink Attachment
Fortunately, I already had a small washing machine in storage. I got it from some friends when they were moving to a new house. So all I needed was a way to hook the machine to a water line only problem, there were no hose attachments on my side of the duplex. I constantly was thinking about a way to do this. When I bought this device it was a bit of a gamble. I wasn’t sure if the threading was correct for my sink. I thought to myself, what’s the worst that can happen, I’ll just be out about $20.
It was an amazing feeling when I relized everything fit. Doing laundry was easy again! Now I could spend the extra time doing what I wanted.
Pro Tips on Making the Sink Attachment Last Longer
I’ve read reviews of this sink attachment lasting only a few months, but I successfully used mine for about two years before it needed to be replaced. The lifespan of the sink attachment can be greatly increased by releasing water pressure before disconnecting. What I do is turn off the sink, briefly do a cycle start on the washing machine to relieve the pressure and turn off the wash machine. It takes only a few seconds and prevents high pressure water from releasing everywhere and increases the life of the sink attachment.
How much Money Did I Save
So let’s break down the numbers on the amount of time and money I have saved by buying this attachment. I would drive about 10 minutes each way to the laundromat, so the total drive time was about 20 minutes. The time I was at laundromat was about 30 minutes if I was in and out. This was about 40 minutes per week that I was being unproductive doing nothing but washing laundry.
Gas cost for 5 miles for my vehicle is approximately $0.75 assuming $3.00 per gallon for gas. The cost for two loads at laundromat was $5.00.
Conclusion
This sink attachment saves me $5.75 per week or about $300 per year. The sink attachment also saves me about 40 minutes of time per week or about 35 hours per year that I can spend doing other things.
I am happy with this purchase and would recommend it. Even after it eventually broke after two years, I baught a new one knowing that it had saved me almost $600 over that time.
